- Course Credit (RPL and Credit Transfer)
At Stamford College, we recognise that students may already possess skills and knowledge gained through previous study, work, or life experiences. To ensure you don’t repeat learning you have already completed, we offer Credit Transfer (CT) and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) options. These pathways can help you reduce the duration and cost of your course.
Credit Transfer
Credit Transfer is the formal recognition of units you have already completed at another Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or education provider. If the units you have previously studied are equivalent to those offered in your chosen course at Stamford College, you may be eligible for a credit transfer.
Applying for Credit Transfer is free of charge.
You must indicate your intent to apply for Credit Transfer in the Application for Enrolment Form (in the relevant section).
You are required to submit certified copies of your qualification and transcript, issued either by another education provider or as an authenticated VET transcript from the USI Registrar.
Approved credit transfers will reduce the number of units you need to study, which may also shorten your course duration.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows you to gain formal recognition for the skills and knowledge you have acquired through work experience, informal training, or life experience.
You must indicate your interest in applying for RPL when completing your Application for Enrolment Form.
A fee applies for RPL assessment. Details of this fee can be found in the Fees and Refunds section of the International Student Handbook.
The RPL process involves assessing your evidence to determine whether you meet the required competency standards for a unit or qualification.
Like Credit Transfer, successful RPL outcomes may result in a reduced course duration and tuition fees.
Notification and Confirmation
Once your Credit Transfer or RPL application has been assessed, we will notify you in writing of the outcome.
If your course duration or fees are reduced, we will issue an updated Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) reflecting these changes.
